• Why did my CF-275smt mid-tweeters suddenly blow or start crackling after installation?
This happens if you bypass the included passive crossover or fail to set a proper high-pass filter. These 2.75-inch drivers cannot handle low bass frequencies. If running them actively without the passive boxes, you must set an active electronic high-pass filter at a minimum of 550 Hz with at least a 12 dB/octave slope to prevent permanent thermal or mechanical damage.
• The speakers fit into my factory dash opening, but the factory wiring plug doesn't match the speaker. How do I hook them up?
While the speaker frame is a direct physical drop-in fit for select Ram, Toyota, and GM vehicles, the electrical terminals use standard aftermarket spade connections. You will need to crimp the included female quick-slide terminals onto your cut factory wires, or buy a vehicle-specific plug-and-play wiring adapter harness (like Metcalfe or Crutchfield styles) separately.
• Why does the high-frequency response sound overly bright, harsh, or too loud in my truck's dashboard?
Dash-mounted speakers reflect sound directly off the windshield, which can exaggerate high frequencies. The included passive crossovers feature a built-in 4-step level adjustment toggle. • Why won't my factory dashboard speaker screws line up with the holes on the CF-275smt frame?
Different vehicle brands use slightly variant screw tabs for their factory 2.75-inch locations. JL Audio includes custom OEM adapter rings in the box to bridge this gap. Attach the correct adapter ring to the speaker frame first, and then secure the assembly into your specific vehicle's factory mounting points.
