Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- • Why does my HCCA854NHP sound great for vocals but weak on bass?
One customer specifically reported that these speakers are good for highs but should not be expected to deliver substantial bass, especially when used with aggressive EQ settings.
- • Why did my HCCA854NHP get damaged when I used a low crossover point?
A customer reported destroying a set after using a 100 Hz crossover with heavy bass EQ, showing why excessive low-frequency content can be risky for this midrange driver.
- • Why are my HCCA854NHP speakers much louder than my factory speakers?
The HCCA854NHP has approximately 99.4 dB efficiency, and users have described the speakers as exceptionally loud, making them capable of significantly higher output than many conventional car speakers.
- • What should I do if I receive the wrong impedance version?
One customer reported ordering the 4-ohm version multiple times but receiving 2-ohm speakers, so checking the speaker's impedance marking before installation can prevent an amplifier-load mismatch.
- • Why does my HCCA854NHP sound harsh when I increase the EQ?
Because the driver is highly efficient and intended for midrange reproduction, excessive bass or treble equalization can push it beyond the range where it performs cleanly.
- • Why doesn't the HCCA854NHP sound like a full-range 8-inch speaker?
The HCCA854NHP is a dedicated 8-inch pro-audio midrange with a specified response of approximately 107 Hz–9 kHz, so it is normally combined with other drivers to cover deeper bass and higher treble.
- • Why does my HCCA854NHP need a different mounting hole than expected?
The speaker requires approximately a 7.24-inch cutout, has an 8.46-inch overall diameter, and approximately 3.19 inches of mounting depth, so the mounting location should be measured before installation.
- • Why does my pair become extremely loud with relatively modest amplifier power?
Its roughly 99.4 dB efficiency allows the HCCA854NHP to generate substantial acoustic output without requiring the same amplifier power as a lower-efficiency speaker.
- • Why does one HCCA854NHP seem louder after installation?
Differences in amplifier-channel gain, speaker polarity, mounting conditions, wiring resistance, or EQ settings can cause one driver to appear louder than its partner.
- • Why does my HCCA854NHP sound different after I install four of them?
A customer using four HCCA854NHP speakers in a Jeep Wrangler reported a very loud result, while multiple speakers also change the system's acoustic balance and amplifier load, so gain and crossover settings may need to be readjusted.
