Rockford Fosgate Power T1 Series Subwoofer

This is a 12" subwoofer designed for use in cars and other vehicles. It features a Dual 2 Ohm voice coil, a 1600 Watt peak power handling, and a OverRoll Santoprene surround. The woofer also has a aluminum heat sink basket for additional cooling, a stacked Magnet structure for increased sound quality and a flat spider for improved cone movement. This subwoofer is designed to provide powerful, deep bass response and is perfect for anyone looking to add an extra punch to their vehicle's audio system.

OverRoll Santoprene surround

Designed to deliver powerful, deep bass performance. The T1D212's 12” subwoofer utilizes a Santoprene surround for better control of the cone and improved linearity. The subwoofer also features an over-roll design for enhanced excursion and increased cone area for increased bass output. The T1D212 is capable of handling up to 1600 watts of peak power. The subwoofer is also equipped with a 4-layer voice coil that allows for greater heat dissipation and improved reliability. The T1D212 is a great choice for anyone looking to really bring the bass to their car audio system.

Aluminum Heatsink Basket

To provide superior thermal performance for your subwoofer. Its cast-aluminum construction is lightweight yet strong and provides optimal heat dissipation to keep your subwoofer working at its peak performance for longer. The basket also provides a sleek, stylish look to any audio system. The specially designed vents on the basket are designed to maximize air flow around the subwoofer, allowing for superior sound quality and improved thermal performance.

Stacked Magnet Structure

It consists of two separate magnets, one on top of the other, that work together to increase the magnetic field strength, resulting in greater cone control and improved linearity. This design also allows for a larger voice coil, which increases power handling and reduces distortion. The T1D212 also features a Kevlar-reinforced paper cone, a high-temperature, polyimide-coated aluminum voice coil, and an inverted dust cap.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • • Why isn't the subwoofer producing the deep bass I expected?
Check the enclosure design, internal volume, amplifier settings, and speaker polarity. The wrong box or incorrect phase can significantly reduce low-frequency output even with a powerful amplifier.
  • • What enclosure should I use for the best performance?
Use a properly designed enclosure that follows the manufacturer's recommended specifications. The correct sealed or ported box volume helps the woofer produce powerful, controlled bass without unnecessary mechanical stress.
  • • What amplifier should I pair with this subwoofer?
Choose an amplifier capable of delivering appropriate clean RMS power at the subwoofer's rated impedance. Proper matching provides strong output while minimizing clipping and the risk of damage.
  • • Why does the amplifier go into protect mode when the bass gets loud?
Check the final impedance, power connections, speaker wiring, and amplifier temperature. An incorrect load, voltage drop, short circuit, or overheating can trigger protection during demanding bass passages.
  • • Why does the bass become distorted at high volume?
Distortion can occur when the amplifier clips, gain is excessive, or the woofer is pushed beyond its limits. Lower the gain and verify the crossover and amplifier settings are properly adjusted.
  • • Why am I hearing rattling or unusual noises from the enclosure?
Inspect the enclosure for loose screws, mounting hardware, terminals, or panels. Air leaks and loose vehicle trim can also create unwanted noises that become more noticeable during heavy bass.
  • • Why is the bass weaker after changing the amplifier or enclosure?
Verify the new enclosure volume, amplifier settings, impedance, and polarity. Changes to any of these factors can alter the woofer's response and may require retuning the entire system.
  • • Does it need a break-in period?
A gradual break-in period allows the suspension and moving components to loosen naturally. Start at moderate listening levels and avoid prolonged maximum output during the first several hours.
  • • Can I use it with a factory head unit?
Yes, but a suitable external amplifier is generally required. Depending on the vehicle's factory audio system, you may also need a signal interface or line output converter.
  • • Why does the bass disappear or become very weak at certain frequencies?
This can be caused by phase cancellation, enclosure tuning, or the vehicle's acoustics. Check polarity and phase settings, then verify the enclosure is built to the recommended specifications.

  • Wow, is all I can say. If you want the serious bass you can feel in your chest, get these. I've got two of them, feeding them only 800 watts a piece, and it's borderline ridiculous how hard these hit. Not to mention they look killer.
