Three Solid Aluminum Bars

TThis subwoofer system is shipped wired, loaded and ready to connect via a five-way binding post terminal.

The angled-back design saves precious cargo space by allowing the enclosure to fit tightly against the back of a vehicle's rear seat.

Finish: Black, high-grade automotive carpet, with gloss-black laminated decorative front baffle trim. Three solid aluminum bars provide stylish and rugged woofer protection.

  • • Why does my monoblock amplifier shut down or get burning hot when running this enclosure?
    The CLS113RG-W7AE features a 13W7AE driver wired to a 3-ohm final impedance. If your amplifier is bridged or not explicitly stable down to 3 ohms (or 1.5 ohms if wiring two boxes), it will overheat and trip protection mode.
  • • Why does the bass output sound surprisingly weak or quiet even though it is a massive 13.5-inch sub?
    The 13W7AE has a low sensitivity of 86.3 dB and a heavy dual voice coil assembly. It is incredibly power-hungry and requires a heavy-duty amplifier supplying between 1000W and 1500W RMS at 3 ohms to properly wake up.
  • • I hear an annoying mechanical "clicking" or tapping noise when turning up the volume. Is the sub broken?
    Not necessarily. Because of the W7's extreme physical design, amplifier clipping or a dirty input signal manifests audibly as a mechanical ticking sound rather than standard distortion. Lowering your amplifier's gain solves this.
  • • Why is my vehicle's rear suspension sagging, and how do I prevent the box from sliding around?
    This loaded ProWedge enclosure is physically massive, weighing a staggering 103 pounds. Due to the heavy magnet structure, it must be physically bolted down or heavily strapped to the vehicle chassis to prevent dangerous shifting.
  • • How do I remove the 13W7AE driver from this specific ProWedge box? There are no visible screws.
    The W7 uses a hidden clamping system. You must carefully pry off the outer bright anodized aluminum surround ring to reveal the hidden perimeter clamp and screws buried directly beneath the foam OverRoll surround edge.
  • • Why do low-frequency notes make the subwoofer cone flutter violently while producing very little actual bass?
    This enclosure is a compact, sealed alignment. If your amplifier's Low-Pass Filter (LPF) is turned off or set too high, upper frequencies or infra-bass noise can cause erratic cone tracking. Set your LPF to a sharp 80Hz cutoff.
  • • Can I replace a rotted or torn foam surround myself, or buy an official JL Audio recone kit?
    JL Audio does not sell loose factory recone kits or parts. Because the complex OverRoll surround attaches directly to the frame edge, you must send the driver to JL Audio for a factory overhaul or use a specialized aftermarket kit.
  • • Why does my car's interior dome light and dashboard flash heavily whenever a deep bass note hits?
    This sub demands up to 1500W RMS, which can cause your vehicle's factory electrical charging circuit to sag below 12 volts. To support the massive current draw, you will need to perform the "Big Three" wiring upgrade or add a secondary battery.
