Why Choose Rockford Fosgate T1650-S Component System?
Rockford Fosgate Power T1 Components Series
Rockford Fosgate designed the Power T1650-S component speaker system for people who won't put up with inferior sound in their cars. Each 6-1/2" woofer features a responsive carbon fiber/polypropylene cone and Santoprene rubber surround that'll stand up to hours of high-volume jams. The separate 1" dome tweeter provides clear, extended highs that can hold their own when the bass gets heavy. The included external crossover network sports selectable tweeter levels and on/off axis switching, allowing you to sculpt the high frequencies to your car's interior.
VAST™ technology
Proprietary VAST™ technology increases the woofer's cone area without increasing the size of the basket, giving you deeper lows and more power handling. And open slots on the heavy-duty aluminum frame make it easier to install these speakers if the factory holes are slightly off, especially in certain European imports.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- • Why isn't the system producing enough midbass?
Check speaker polarity, mounting, door sealing, and wiring connections. Incorrect polarity or air leaks around the speakers can reduce midbass response and make the system sound thinner than expected.
- • Why do the tweeters sound too bright or harsh?
Excessive treble can come from equalizer settings, tweeter placement, or crossover configuration. Adjust the treble gradually and verify the tweeters and crossovers are wired correctly before changing other settings.
- • Why is one side louder than the other?
Check the head unit's balance and fade controls first, then inspect the speaker and crossover connections. Loose wiring, reversed polarity, or a faulty connection can cause uneven output between channels.
- • Can I run these speakers from a factory radio?
Yes, they can work with many factory head units. However, an aftermarket amplifier can provide cleaner power, improve dynamics, and allow the speakers to reach higher volume levels.
- • Why does the sound distort at higher volume?
Distortion may occur when the factory radio or amplifier clips. Lower the volume slightly, check gain settings, and make sure the speakers receive a clean signal within their recommended operating range.
- • Why isn't one of the tweeters producing sound?
Inspect the tweeter wiring and crossover connections for loose or damaged wires. Incorrect connections or a faulty crossover can prevent the tweeter from receiving the appropriate high-frequency signal.
- • Why do I hear rattling from the doors after installation?
Check the speaker mounting hardware, door panel, and surrounding trim. Loose components or insufficient mounting can vibrate with the speaker and create rattling during louder music.
- • Do I need an amplifier for better performance?
An amplifier is not always required, but clean additional power can improve volume and dynamics. Match the amplifier appropriately and set the gain correctly to avoid clipping or speaker damage.
- • Why does the upgrade sound weaker than my factory speakers?
Verify speaker polarity, crossover wiring, mounting, and door sealing. Incorrect phase or poor installation can reduce midbass response and make an aftermarket system sound unexpectedly weak.
- • Where should I mount the tweeters for the best sound?
Factory locations, upper door areas, or A-pillars can work well. Aim both tweeters toward the listening area and keep their positions reasonably symmetrical for better stereo imaging.
