Why Choose Kicker 45L7R124 Component Car Subwoofer?
Versatile Wiring, Tight Bass, Maximum Performance
Dual 4-ohm voice coils provide flexible wiring options, making it easy to match your amplifier for maximum power output and efficiency—ideal for bridging or parallel setups. Wrap-around gasketing ensures a secure, airtight fit in any enclosure, reducing unwanted air leaks for consistent, accurate bass. Patented ribbed corners in the unique square sub design minimize distortion at high excursions, keeping your bass clean, tight, and powerful even at maximum output.
Engineered for Precision and Power
The injection-molded SoloKon woofer cone combines strength and lightness to minimize flex and deliver punchy, accurate low frequencies. 360° SoloKon back bracing reinforces the entire cone structure, preventing distortion and deformation even under high power. The UniPlate back plate and pole piece, paired with a bumped back plate, create a robust motor system that optimizes heat dissipation, ensuring consistent, reliable performance under heavy loads.
Durable, Powerful, and Precise Bass
Thick tinsel leads are extra-strong and heat-resistant, maintaining signal integrity even under high excursion and extended use. The large ceramic magnet generates a powerful magnetic field, driving the cone for strong, deep, and responsive bass. Housed in a steel basket with a spoke design, this subwoofer remains rigid and vibration-resistant, delivering tighter, cleaner bass and long-term durability.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- • What amplifier should I pair with this subwoofer?
Select an amplifier that closely matches the subwoofer's RMS power rating for the best results. Proper gain adjustment helps maximize output while protecting the speaker.
- • Can this subwoofer fit in a smaller vehicle without losing too much output?
Yes, as long as the enclosure meets the manufacturer's recommended airspace, it can be built into a more compact design for smaller vehicles. Sealed enclosures are often preferred in these situations since they generally require less overall volume than ported designs.
- • Why does my bass sound weak after installation?
Weak bass is often caused by incorrect enclosure volume, poor amplifier tuning, or reversed polarity. Checking these settings usually restores stronger low-frequency performance.
- • How much power does this subwoofer need to perform at its best?
It's rated for a specific RMS range, and running it well below that can result in weak, underwhelming bass output.
- • Why does the subwoofer distort when I increase the volume?
Distortion usually indicates amplifier clipping or excessive gain settings. Proper tuning helps maintain clean bass and prevents damage to the subwoofer.
- • Does this subwoofer require a break-in period?
Many users recommend playing music at moderate volume for several hours after installation. This allows the suspension to loosen naturally for more consistent performance.
- • Why does the subwoofer make a popping or knocking sound?
This can happen if the amplifier is clipping or the cone is exceeding its mechanical limits. Reduce the volume and inspect the amplifier settings before continued use.
- • Can this subwoofer handle daily high-volume listening?
Yes, when paired with a properly matched amplifier and enclosure, it is designed for reliable everyday use. Avoid prolonged clipping to maximize its lifespan.
- • Why does the voice coil smell hot after playing loud music?
A hot smell usually indicates the subwoofer is being pushed beyond its continuous power limits. Lowering the gain and matching the amplifier correctly can help prevent overheating.
- • Does the square shape mean I need a special enclosure design?
Yes, the square frame requires an enclosure built specifically to accommodate its shape and mounting depth, unlike standard round subwoofers. Using a generic round-cutout box won't work, so the enclosure must be custom-built or purchased pre-made for this specific driver.

I've always been buying Kicker products for more than ten years now. From amplifiers, speakers to subwoofers, I am really a fan of their sound quality considering their price point. The L7Rs are really great for their price. Loud clean bass, and does not easily when cranked up. You'll really feel it when you push the volume.
