Okay I have two of these hooked up to a Kicker 2500x1 mono amp in the back of my explorer and it is LOUD. Really loud. I needed to get a 25 farad capacitor and a kinetic battery to stop all the power problems I have. I must say that these subwoofers are the loudest I have ever personally heard. Enough said.
One of the best speakers on the market. I have 4 in the back of my 05 Denali, hooked up to 4 1000 watt kicker amps, and it is without a doubt that I am beating the hardest in South Alabama. Good Job Kicker -Marquez-
well for the money you pay for them ,they suck.and if you put the recomended power on them they cant handle it . Ive installed 2 pair into a car with a planet audio 900d,and set the gains low,and very moderate break in(1 week at low volumes only each time) and theyre blown yet again.............. good stillwater designs..back to the drawing board!
I have been installing stereos since I was 13. I am now 22 years old, and the Solo-Baric subs are by far the best ever built. I just installed 2 15" L7's coupled with a Kx-1200.1 Amp, 20 Farad Lanzar Capacitor, Optima Yellow Top Batter, 200 Amp Circuit Breaker, 0ga power, 4ga ground, a new Alpine head unit and a slotted box with 3.0 cubic ft. individual chambers. The vehicle is a GMC Jimmy it has been Dynamatted from front doors back. With the gain and bass boost set at only half, the frequency set at 125 and the head unit on factory settings these babies rang out a 172.4 and were begging for more.
I have only one 15 hooked up at 650 watts from a rockford amp and it makes my ears pop! By far the best subs i have ever heard! Square for LIFE!
wicked subs..had 1 of these hooked up to a hifonics bx1206d at 1 ohm.. which gives it 1200Wrms and it pounds!! had it in a ported enclosure tuned to 35hz and you can hear it 3 blocks away. very recomended
My friend has this sub in the older L7 model (The one with the silver cone). We recently installed it in a Durango, in a ported box, powered with a Rockford Power P8002 amp, bridged at around 800 rms. The sub gets stupid loud and is just insane, he set off two car alarms the second day he had it, lol. I would recommend this sub for anyone who has a good amount of power to throw at it (I'd recommend at least 750 rms) and whoever wants a sub to get crazy loud and hit the low lows like you have never heard. The sq, on the other hand, is decent, enough for my buddy who listens mostly to rap, but does listen to rock occasionally. All in all this is a great sub if you want to turn heads and feel the bass. The output is amazing in a ported box, and as a 15" square sub it can hit the lows with ease. A great sub overall.
I have one powered by a kenwood kx810d mono amp and it sounds great especially if u have a 5 volt preamp output, however i have blown one already and if this one doesn't hold up, so long kicker
First off all of the kicker subs are great. Especially the solobaric's. Now on to bigger matters, all these guys on here who are having problems obviously dont know what there doing. Aint know way in hell you guys are blowing up these subs with these cheap amps your talking about. Send ur stuff to somebody who knows what there doing and i GER-RON-TEE, you will rewrite those bad reviews, (come on, a keenwood amp blowing up a solobaric)
As an installer for 6 years, i can tell you that there are only a few subs out there that can match or beat this one. The w7 has a very deep mounting depth and requires a custom box so unless you are on Pimp My Ride, its not practical. It is important, however, not to under- power this sub or you will be disappointed. ATLEAST 750watts RMS is required. Great Sub overall
Guys I had two of these in my 1999 GMC Yukon, they were powered by a KX1200.1, in a custom 12 cubic foot box. I mean to tell you a hit the low tones, loud and clear, I agree if you want SQ find another subwoofer, cause these things are meant to just push air, I hit a 153.2 with my setup and that's with the sub powered about half of what they can handle. Great buy in my book.
The reason people are blowing this sub up with cheap amps is b/c they're sending distorted signals to the subs. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. My (first) solobaric was powered by a Sony 1200 watt amp(which in reality was probably 300 RMS total) and I fried my solobaric. Now I have a replacement w/ a 1500 Rockford X7 amp running 1000 watts to it. Also, get a good HU b/c another problem I had was running a cheap Kenwood 2volt HU to the amp. I upgraded to a 4volt HU and 2gauge JL power wire...a world of difference.
This sub is the loudest sub i have ever heard, my friend has 2 05 L7's in his expedition hooked up to an Audiobaun amp, and it isnt anywhere close to mine, i got 2 of these hooked up to a KX2500 amp with cap in a Explorer and it feels like my heart is gonna burst, if u want the best get this
its crazy amazing. I had four explodes in my trunk and this hits harder than all four of them did. I got one and it quakes so hard it shakes everything around me.my complaints about it are that there isant anything wrong with it. Its loudhasnt blown yet and my amp that used to overheat with the 12's doesnt now. Its a great product buy it you wont be disapointed.people ask me what i have in my trunk and when i say one sub they think im lying. Its funny.
This is by far the best wub i have had. i have it hooked up one to a hifonics BXi1206. it running at 1-ohm/1200 watts RMS. I have it in a 3.5cu.ft. ported box and it sounds great. hits a lot harder than my old 12" pioneer premiers. paid $250 for it and am not disappointed. hook it into a 25F cap. this sub is GREAT...the loudest sub out there. these push more air compared to round subs. if you want the most and loudest bass on the block get this..don't follow the crowd and get circle subs. these give you more bass.. If you get this a got to get a good amp..1000 Watts n up!!! These subs are also great because they can handle a 1-ohm load safely. this means you can run your amp at max but make sure your amp is 1-ohm stable or you could blow it. this sub is not for beginning do-it-yourselvers, know what you are doing and you'll be fine. ("jamestheinstaller From columbia/tn" down there didn't know what he was doing. he under powered his sub becasue the amp was un-name brand)
I Have had my L7 15" going on 5 years now, this is by far the best speaker money can buy. I ran it for 3 years on a Kicker ZX240 and It slammer harder than any competition. 2 Years ago I bought a Kicker ZX1000.1 and i'm never going to buy another sub. A+++
I have two of these beast and so far the only complaints i get is from the police and the people that be n the neighborhood. These subs are the best i highly recommended you to get you some but make sure u have the right amp hook up to it to really see what it can do.
This is an absolute BEST BUY. . i bought one of these in a probox with a hifonics brutus 750w rms amp. this thing nearly tore my car apart. everything shacked in the car, i had to to use a key now to open my trunk b/c the bass distorted it so much. and at one time i had to change out the fuel pump cuz the bass had damaged it. the thing is too, this sub could take way more than the amp gave it. i recommend this to anyone who wants something simple and knows it can set all the car alarms in your street.
i just got one of these last night and i got a soundstorm 1800watt amp hooked up and it is so loud, i couldn't breathe during one of the songs. I highly recommend you get this speaker, it is a beast.
The Kicker L7 15... wow, with 4 of them and 2 zx2500.1 amps in the back of my explorer, its hard to beat. Its not the loudest subs made, but they bang pretty damn hard... well any 4 subs is going to hit, but i think that they should improve the sq on them, but as far as spl, they are great.
I have two of these in a sealed box at 2ohm with a m1005 alpine amp and they sound great. I think it would be louder if i had a bigger amp but what I have does the job. If u get these I recomend an alpine amp they put out a great sound and high spl
i have 1 of these in a slot ported box hooked up to a Fosgate T3002 (over 1000 RMS) i cant turn my amp up very high becouse i dont want to blow it. the sub has broken the seal on my back window and it pushes out the side pop out windows. i have a Clarion HU with 6 volt RCA out puts. i have Fosgate 400.4 pushing my Infinity door speakers. i have by far the best system in town. a friend got a JL w6 13.5 with the HO box. he thought his was the shit tell i let him sit in my truck for a min. now he wants one. i can set car alarms off all day long. u can deff hear me coming blocks away. best sub for the money. i have yet to hear something as loud. for it being a 15" i didnt expect much for SQ but wow it sounds great! with the highs/mids of my Infinitys and the lows of my L& i couldnt ask for a better system. if you got the money get one!
i have the L5 solob with a 2000 watt d class amp...SLAMS!..anyone giving this speaker a bad reaview or blowing this sub? obviously doesnt know what they are doing! when i was changing amps i forgot to take the old amp off the top of the box...put a hole in the sub...sealed it with cement glue...still beats harder than my 2 15in memphis with a 1000 watt memphis mono block...soon as i get 250 i am upgrading to the L7.. In my book..and ive had hundreds of systems!
WOW... I have two L7's Bein ran off a zx 850.2 kicker amp....... the best system i ever have heard... Ive had fosgate punch 3's in a banpass box... twice as loud with the L7's... put a crack in my back window.... sucked ass... but i cant complain with the great quality sound im getting outta theese speakers.... highly reccomended to anyone
i got this sub in a vented box with a 800 watt pioneer and iit bangs sound quality isnt the greatest but sounds awesome with rap music i had a bunch of different subs and this one so far is the loudest
i have this hooked up to a 1200 watt hifonics amp @2 ohms and this things beats the h*** out of my car best sub ive ever owned
I know everyone is always talking about how great kicker is, but i would definately recommend a rockford T1 or T2 over this subwoofer by FAR. or even a pioneer premier ts-w3004spl. You can get 3 of those for the price of one of these and my 1-12" premier hit 8db higher on termlab than my 15" kicker with the same amp on them. It is an ok beginners subwoofer but not worth the money.
JEEEEEZUSSSSSSSS I went from 2 JL 10" W6's to this and WOW MY BRAIN is in much pain right now... The bass is so amazing Although not as clear as the JL's...but I guess thats what happens when you work yours way from the best down haha The bass is amazing though Powering it at 1 ohm
I HAVE TWO 15S HOOKED UP TO HIFONICS 2600 AND BROKE THE REAR WINDSHIELD ON MY DURANGO!!!!AND I LOVE THEM AND THE HARD HITTING BASS
This is to Landen... Those Rockford T1 and T2's spiders will come apart when you put the recommended power to them if you listen to your music loud all the time. They do sound good but the quality doesn't come close to Kicker. I have had my two 15" L7's since new in 2004 and they still pound. They are ran at 2 ohm on a kx2500.1 Kicker amp with three yellow top Optimas and for those who don't believe I hit 150.2 on the termlab this summer of 09 with those old dogs.
