A mid-level multimedia DVD receiver from Kenwood, the DDX6706S, would be an excellent upgrade to your car's old receiver, as it comes with the latest features that you can find on high-level receivers from its competition.
The receiver is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can now ask for directions, listen to voice messages, receive and make calls, and play music using voice commands. It also has Bluetooth connectivity that allows you to pair two phones simultaneously, where you can quickly switch when someone makes or takes a call wirelessly. You can also pair up to five phones when streaming music.
Aside from its DVD player and built-in radio tuner, it is also SiriusXM-ready, so you can listen to your favorite shows while traveling. It is also compatible with the iDatalink Maestro module, which allows you to retain your car's factory features even with the new receiver, and you can also check out the engine performance data on the 6.75-inch display.

Though you have the option to connect the DDX6706S to an external car amplifier, it still comes with a built-in amplifier that can handle a power output of 22 Watts RMS per channel and can go up to 50 Watts of peak power per channel. It also comes with a six-channel preamp output, so aside from two pairs of speakers, you can connect a pair of subwoofers to have a full-range audio experience from your car's audio system.
You can also shape the quality of the audio that comes out from the receiver using its built-in 13-band graphic EQ. It has a 3-way crossover to separate the low, mid, and high frequencies, resulting in improved audio quality. It also comes with a bass boost control if you still feel that the audio lacks some bass. All in all, your speakers and subwoofers are safe from blowing off using this receiver.
