Why Choose Kicker 48KXMA8004 Marine Amplifier?
Marine-Grade Class D Amplifier with KickEQ™ Bass Boost
Designed for the toughest marine environments, this amplifier features REAL MARINE™ construction, including anti-corrosive terminals, stainless-steel screws, conformal-coated circuit boards, and ABYC/NMMA-compliant power connections for reliable performance in saltwater, UV, and high-humidity conditions. Its high-efficiency Class D design delivers maximum power without overheating, while the adjustable KickEQ™ Bass Boost (0–6 dB at 40 Hz) adds extra punch for a deeper, more impactful low-end.
Precision DSP Amplifier with Advanced Tuning Controls
Featuring a variable 24 dB crossover for precise high-pass, low-pass, or band-pass tuning, this amplifier ensures each speaker performs at its best. The DSP-controlled preamp delivers clear, distortion-free audio across all channels, while the gain control with “Gain Match” LED indicator simplifies setup by visually confirming when the input signal is optimally matched.
Marine Amplifier with Protected Controls and Expandable Design
This amplifier features a gasket-sealed control panel that safeguards gain, crossover, and bass-boost settings from water, dust, and corrosion while allowing quick adjustments. Full-range RCA outputs simplify system expansion by letting you add additional amplifiers without extra cabling. Built with a black anodized aluminum chassis and a top-mounted teal LED light pipe, it combines durability with style, and included stainless-steel mounting hardware ensures secure, corrosion-resistant installation.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- • Why won't the amplifier turn on after installation?
A blown fuse, weak battery, poor ground connection, or missing remote turn-on signal is usually the cause. Check the power wiring, fuse, battery voltage, and remote lead before troubleshooting the amplifier.
- • Can this amplifier power four marine speakers?
Yes. It is designed to power multiple compatible marine speakers as long as the total impedance remains within the recommended operating range.
- • Why does the amplifier keep entering protection mode?
Protection mode is commonly triggered by overheating, shorted speaker wiring, or a speaker load below the recommended impedance. Inspect the wiring and allow the amplifier to cool before restarting it.
- • Is this suitable for saltwater boating?
Yes. Its marine-grade construction helps resist moisture, corrosion, UV exposure, and vibration when properly installed.
- • Why is there power but no sound from the speakers?
This is often caused by disconnected RCA cables, loose speaker wiring, or incorrect head unit settings. Verify every signal and speaker connection before assuming the amplifier has failed.
- • Why does it become hot after several hours of use?
Some heat is normal during high-output operation. Make sure the amplifier has adequate airflow and is not mounted in a sealed compartment with poor ventilation.
- • Can I bridge channels to run a marine subwoofer?
Yes, if the amplifier supports bridged operation and the subwoofer matches the recommended impedance. Follow the manufacturer's wiring instructions for safe bridging.
- • Why do I hear alternator or engine noise through my speakers?
Electrical interference is typically caused by poor grounding or signal cables routed alongside power wiring. Improving the ground connection and separating signal cables from power wires usually eliminates the noise.
- • Should I use marine-grade wiring for installation?
Yes. Marine-grade power and speaker wire provide better protection against corrosion, moisture, and harsh marine environments than standard automotive wire.
- • Can I expand my boat's audio system later?
Yes. You can add compatible speakers, subwoofers, or additional amplifiers if your boat's charging system can handle the increased electrical load.

Features:
- Marine-Ready 4-Channel Powerhouse: The Kicker KXMA800.4 is a versatile 4-channel marine amplifier, built as two independent 2-channel amps (Amp1 & Amp2) with bridgeable channels for 4, 3, or 2-channel configurations. Features ABYC/NMMA-compliant power and ground terminals, anti-corrosive inputs/outputs, conformal-coated circuit boards, stainless-steel screws, and a UV-treated aluminum chassis. Note: Not waterproof—avoid direct water exposure.
- High-Efficiency Class-D Amplification: Compact Class-D design delivers 100W x 4 @ 4Ω, 200W x 4 @ 2Ω, or 400W x 2 bridged @ 4Ω with ≤1% THD+N at 14.4V.
- Flexible Input Level Selection: 2-position switch allows High (speaker-level) or Low (line-level) input for each channel pair.
- Fader Control: On/Off switch determines whether the input channels are combined or independent for Amp1 & Amp2.
- Multiple Auto Turn-On Options: Choose from +12V remote (preferred), DC Offset detection, or Audio/Signal Sense to power the amplifier. Using DC Offset or Audio methods converts REM terminal into +12V output for additional amps.
- PRT Protection LED: Red LED signals problems—flickering = low voltage; solid = thermal shutdown, shorted output, or voltage outside 10–16V.
- Amp1 Controls: Independent input gain (125mV–5V Low / 250mV–10V High) with clipping LED, 3-position crossover (Off/HP/LP, 24dB/oct), frequency dial (10–500Hz x1 or 100–5,000Hz x10), 2-position frequency range switch, and KickEQ+ bass boost (+0–6dB at 40Hz).
- Amp2 Controls: Independent input gain (125mV–5V Low / 250mV–10V High) with clipping LED, 4-position crossover (Off/HP/LP/Bandpass, 24dB/oct), HP & LP frequency dials, 2-position LP frequency range switch, and KickEQ+ bass boost (+0–6dB at 40Hz).
- Marine-Grade Wire Connections: Screw-down terminals for power, ground, REM, and speaker outputs. Power/Ground accepts up to 4 AWG; REM/Speaker up to 8 AWG. ABYC/NMMA-compliant.
- External Fuse Required: No onboard fuse; install 100A inline fuse on the power wire near the battery for protection.
- Input Signal Flexibility: Accepts High (speaker-level) or Low (line-level) input on two RCA pairs; optional KiSL adapter recommended. Sensitivity: 0.125–5V (low) / 0.25–10V (high).
- Line-Out Pass-Thru: Single RCA output for connecting additional amplifiers.
- Compact Dimensions: Width 11.58", Height 2.19", Depth 8.26" (8.78" including wires).

Man, was an easy install and looks pretty slick too. Produces awesome power, really pleased with how it drives my speakers!
-
Had all my tower speakers hooked up with the amp. The sound quality is quite good but the build quality is was really makes me impressed with this marine amplifier. High quality materials and it really feels very durable. Splashed some water inadvertently, thankfully, I haven’t experienced any issues with it.

Got all my eight speakers on my boat connected to the amplifier. The sound is better now with the new amp and feels louder than before. Installation was straightforward too.
