- • Why are half of my speakers completely silent even though all 8 speakers are wired up correctly to the amplifier?
This is a signal routing configuration error. When using fewer than 4 pairs of RCA inputs, you must adjust the input routing toggle switches under the gasketed top cover to split and distribute the audio signal to the unpopulated channels.
- • The status LED on my XDM800/8 is glowing solid red and all audio has shut off. What should I do first?
A solid red LED means Protection Mode is active. Unplug all speaker wire terminal blocks from the side of the amplifier and cycle the power. If the light turns blue, your amp is healthy and you have a short circuit in your speaker wiring.
- • Why does my amplifier shut down or get extremely hot when I try to run four subwoofers off the bridged channels?
Bridging channel pairs increases the minimum allowable speaker impedance to 4 ohms. Wiring 2-ohm subwoofers or running multiple speakers in parallel below 4 ohms overloads the output stage, causing rapid thermal shutdowns.
- • I hear a constant, annoying high-pitched whine through my marine speakers that changes pitch when I accelerate the boat. How do I get rid of it?
This is alternator whine caused by a ground loop. Correct this by routing the amplifier's main ground cable directly to the negative battery distribution block or engine block, and keep RCA cables separated from 12V power lines.
- • Why is there a faint but persistent "hissing" sound coming from my high-end tweeters even when my stereo volume is turned down to zero?

No external box is needed. The amplifier accepts high-level speaker signals up to 8V directly through its RCA jacks. Splice your speaker lines onto RCA male adapter tails, plug them in, and set the Input Voltage switch to "High."

Amazing amplifier. Had bought two of these. One for my SUV and another for my boat. Its really a good amp as I don’t have to buy multiple amps for my boat. All of my marine speakers and subs are hooked up in the amp & the sound is really superb. Lots of good features and controls, and the filters are highly responsive.
