The heart of the Oz-180 is a custom wound 1.5" thermoset copper voice coil. This coil wire is wound on a black aluminum former, improving heat dissipation and maintaining its electrical characteristics even under the most demanding conditions. The Oz-180 employs a talc-impregnated, mineral filled polypropylene cone thats highly damped to minimize distortion and produce a neutral, smooth mid-frequency response. The cone bodies cross-section shape has been optimized by computer and the human ear to ensure the flattest, smoothest frequency response possible. Even the shape and firmness of the dust cap was painstakingly studied and optimized to generate its final shape. Finally, a custom tooled poly/cotton blend flat progressive spider specifically engineered for this driver is used to maintain linearity and reduce motion stress in any operating condition.
