  • WELL IF YOU BUY THIS AMP IN HOPE'S ITS LIKE THE ORIGINAL REFERENCE SERIES AMPS YOU KNOW ITS NOTHING CLOSE TO THE ORIGINALS IN ANY WAY BUT LOOKS. IT CANT HANDLE BEING BRIDGED INTO 2 OHMS FOR MORE THAN A FEW MIN B4 SHUTING OFF DUE TO OVER HEATING. MY ORIGINAL REF. 500S HITS ALOT HARDER AND LAUGHS AT A 1 OHM LOAD. THIS AMP SUCKS.

  • ive used very similar boards and im fimilar with the build house and parts used.. this amp is a very quite and very well controlled output section.. it has a high DF excellent channel seperation and decent output its closer to 130x4@ 13.5 volts but you cna run a 2 way comp set active with the built in xover and have a damn nice sounding and damn loud system.. the old amps where very higend in its day yet they where a differnet design AKA a HC design thats power hungry as hell.. the new amps are 10-15% more efficent sound just as good and are more reliable.. the amp is made to drive a 2ohm stereo load and if your using this amp for something other than power highend components you truely need to learn about audio in general..

  • This replaced my IDQ amp. I dont know why the other guy was having problems running a 2 ohm load on this amp. mine runs 2 ohms in a stuffy trunk all day long with no problem. The clarity and staging are mint! one of the best amps I have ever owned, I could seriously run this in my studio and be happy with the quality of sound. PURE.

  • f'n awsome amp. it plays my highs perfectly and here sounds in my music i never heard bwfore. also the sound is clean so it take a little bit to get used to. also when u buy this and you should get a Soundstream BLT and a (if u can find it) a sound stream m-tube 8.

  • I've been a Soundstream fan since 98. I recently bought the ref4.920 after reading reviews upon reviews to make sure they were atleast what the Reference series used to be. I do now agree.. they are better. They don't run at 1/2 or 1 ohm any more BUT they don't get super hot like the old ones did either. AND MINE IS ON MY BOAT. I'm running 8 Rockford Fosgate M262's off of the amp and it flat out screams.. Only after about 2 hours at full blast in 80 degree weather does the sound start to quiet a little bit. It doesn't shut off or cut out, the amp just lets you know that you need to take it easy for a few minutes and quiets down a tad. I have those and a new Cerwin Vega Vmax 3104(1000 watts RMS) in a 1.4cu ft box at 40hz running off a Soundstream DTR1.1700 at 1100 watts.. Luckily I have 2 6 volt batteries or I might be in trouble..

  • This amp is awesome. If you are looking for an amp with tons of very clean power, then look no further. I am running one of these (4.920) for highs and the ref 1000.1 for lows. And I love them both. They are loud and clear. The head unit is a pioneer deh-80prs, so that helps too. But I bought these right here for $560 bucks for both. And I can tell you that I have spent a lot more than that to get this kind of result. This is a lot of bang for the buck ($).

  • I have this amp and the REF 2.640 as well as the 1.500 Mono amp PLENTY OF CLEAN,CLEAN POWER... I have the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X997 Head Unit, AudioControl EQS 6 channel PRE AMP EQ, Sound Stream BX-20Z Bass Reconstructor ON ITS WAY>>Ground Shaker CP112 Sealed Box, Morel Primo 124 12" Sub, Fusion PPCM 650 Component as well as the Sound Stream RF 60 C Component
I am selling the 1.500 to a friend as the Single Morel is only 4 Ohms and the 2.640 will push 640 Watts into a single 4 Ohm load and the 4.920 is still overkill but its better to have too much clean power than not enough. BUT that brings me to another point... These Amps cannot be touched for what they are being sold for on here. These amps are not your average run of the mill 640 Watt and 920 Watt amps these are substantial ... they are heavy and large but they look INCREDIBLE IF I COULD GIVE MORE STARS I WOULD.
