Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- • Why does my JL Audio HD750/1 go into protection mode after a few minutes of heavy bass?
This is commonly caused by a speaker load below the amplifier's minimum impedance, poor ventilation, or a wiring short.
- • Can the HD750/1 safely run a 2-ohm subwoofer?
Yes. The HD750/1 is designed to deliver its rated power into a wide range of impedances, including 2 ohms.
- • Why does my amplifier stay on after I turn off the vehicle?
The remote turn-on wire may be connected to a constant 12V source instead of a switched accessory circuit.
- • Why is my subwoofer quieter after upgrading to the HD750/1?
The amplifier gain may not be properly adjusted. Recalibrating the gain and input sensitivity usually restores output.
- • Can I use the HD750/1 with a factory radio?
Yes. It accepts both low-level and high-level input signals when installed correctly.
- • Why do I hear a popping sound when the amplifier turns on?
This is often caused by an incorrect remote turn-on sequence or improper grounding between system components.
- • Can I mount the HD750/1 upside down?
Yes, but adequate airflow must be maintained to ensure proper cooling during extended operation.
- • Why does the amplifier become warm even when I'm not playing music loudly?
Class D amplifiers generate normal operating heat. Excessive heat usually indicates restricted airflow or excessive current draw.
- • Does the HD750/1 require a capacitor for strong bass performance?
Not usually. A healthy battery and properly sized power wiring are more important than adding a capacitor.
- • Why does the amplifier clip before reaching full volume?
The source unit may already be clipping, or the amplifier gain may be set too high. Proper gain matching is essential.

I have the JL hd750/1 Powering my 12w7. I must say, wow!!!! I was a little skeptical about the power difference compared to the initial 500/1 setup that i had. There was a total difference from the time i powered the amp, and it has not let me down yet. Amazing amp
-
Have 2 of them powering 4 12w3's and it's the loudest/cleanest hard hitting system I've ever had and over the past 23 years I've had plenty of systems
-
hows off its versatility by connecting to all available interior speakers
-
JL audio HD750/1 produces the same wattage at all 4 to 1.5 Ohms Has a low power draw from your alternator And stays clear at all volumes and provides alot of sound. how could you go wrong

Bought one a month ago and paired with my 10W7. Wow! There’s really some new levels of bass that’s coming out of this setup now. Glad I decided to go for the more expensive JL Audio amp. They’re really perfect for each other

Perfect amp to have if you want to get the best out of your W7 sub. If you do not have the the W7 sub yet, you might also want to consider getting one to get the best lows you can experience. Its expensive but you get what you pay for, and I’m getting high quality bass with what I paid for.
