The Alpine R2-W12D4 is the kind of subwoofer that doesn’t just play bass—it controls it. At the core is a Kevlar reinforced pulp cone with a two-piece structural parabolic design, giving you serious strength and tear resistance while keeping distortion low even when you push it hard. Add in the oversized inverted polypropylene/ceramic composite dust cap, and you get extra rigidity that keeps everything tight and accurate when the volume climbs.
This sub is all about moving air with purpose. The HAMRS Santoprene surround allows for high-amplitude movement and serious SPL without losing cone stability, so you get deep bass that still stays controlled. A progressive spider with reinforced tinsel leads keeps everything locked in during heavy excursion, eliminating unwanted noise and helping the sub stay consistent no matter how hard you drive it. Underneath it all, the compound radius pole geometry motor design creates a more balanced magnetic field for improved efficiency, cleaner output, and stronger power handling.

No matter how you’re building your system, this sub gives you options. Dual 4-ohm voice coils let you wire it down to 2Ω for more output or up to 8Ω for different amplifier matching setups. The spring post terminals make installation easy, accepting up to 8-gauge wire, pin connectors, or banana plugs without hassle. It even comes with wiring jumpers, so switching between series and parallel configurations is quick and straightforward.
The R2-W12D4 is designed to perform in both sealed and ported setups, depending on how you like your bass. In a sealed box, it works best in 0.65 to 1.1 ft³, with 0.85 ft³ giving you that tight, balanced response. If you want more low-end punch, a ported enclosure between 1.1 and 1.6 ft³ tuned to 36 Hz brings out deeper, more aggressive bass. Either way, this sub is built to deliver clean, powerful output that hits hard and stays controlled.
